  • Gionee Smart Phones 8th Annual Vijay Awards powered by Casa Grande co-presented by Dr. M.G.R. University Maduravoyil, Nandu brand Lungies, Repco Home Finance and RRP Housing' which was held on 5th July 2014 was attended by an array of stars from the film industry, eminent directors, notable producers, top-notch technicians.

    Awards, guests and performances;

    With international standards, grandiose sets and with live performances of the stars on stage were the highlights of the show. anchors Divyadarshini (DD) and Neeya Nana Gopinath hosted the show and kept the crowd enthralled. The show also had stunning performances by actors Sruthi Haasan, Vani Kapoor, Anirudh, Hansika Motwani, Lakshmi Rai and others on stage.

    Ulaganayagan Kamalhassan, the Badhshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan, actors Vijay, Surya, A.R. Rehman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Director Shankar, Nayantara, Sruthi Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Pooja Kumar, Kushbu, Karthik, Gautam Karthik, actor Jayaram, Nazriya, Malawika Pooja, Vikram Prabhu, Ramkumar, Arjun, Director Bharathiraja, director Bala, director Lingusamy, Vijaysethupathy, Lakshmi Rai, cinematographer Rajiv Menon, actor Sivakarthikeyan, Anirudh, Santhanam, Latha Rajnikanth, Aishwarya Dhanush Rajnikanth, Priya Anand, Dhanshika, director Raam, actor Poornima Bhagyaraj, Na. Muthukumar, Ramyakrishnan, dance choreographer Brinda, Gayathri Raguram, music director Santhosh Narayanan, Nalan Kumarasamy, editor Antony, and many others graced the occasion.

    The best film award was given to 'Soodhu Kavvum' from the special jury award category. The best film ward was given to 'Thanga Meengal'. The best director award was given to Bala for 'Paradesi'. The best actor - male award was given to Kamal Haasan for Vishwaroopam. The best actor - female award was given to Nayantara for 'Raja Rani'. Best supporting actor - male was given to Bharathiraja for 'Pandiya Naadu'. The best supporting actor - female was given Dhanshika for 'Paradesi'.

    The best comedian award was given to Santhanam for 'Theeya Velai Seiyannum Kumaru'. The best dubut actor male was given to Gautham Karthik for 'Kadal'. Best debut director was given to Atlee for 'Raja Rani'. The best villain award was given to Arjun for 'Kadal'. The best music director award was given to A.R. Rehman for 'Kadal'.

    The best cinematographer was given to Rajiv Menon for 'Kadal'. The best editor was given to Anthony for 'Pandiya Naadu'. Best art director award was given to Lalgudi N Ilayaraja for 'Vishwaroopam'. Best screenplay writer award was given to Nalan Kumarasamy for 'Soodhu Kavvum'. Best dialogue award was given to Naveen for 'Moodar Koodam'. Best back ground score was given to Santhosh Narayanan for 'Soodhu Kavvum'. Best choreographer award was given to Brindha for Adiye 'Kadal'. The best stunt director award was given to Anal Arasu for 'Pandiya Naadu'. Best make-up award was diven to Dhasaradhan for 'Paradesi'. Best costume designer award was given to Poornima Ramaswamy, Perumal Selavam for 'Paradesi'.

  • The best play back singer male award was given to Yuvan Shankar Raja for the song 'Kadal raasa naan' - Maryan. Best play back singer female was given to Shakthi Sree Gopalan for 'Nenjukulley' Kadal. The best lyricist award was given to Na. Muthukumar for 'Dheivangal ellam' song from 'Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga'. Best song of the year was given to 'Ethirneechaladi', Anirudh Ravichander.

    The Favorite Hero award was given to Vijay for Thalaiva. The favorite Heroine award was given to Nayanthara for 'Raja Rani'. The Favorite film award was given to 'Aarambam'. The Favorite director award was given to Kamal Haasan for 'Vishwaroopam'.

    The Favorite song award was given to 'Oodhaa color ribbon' D. Imman from the film 'Varuthappadatha Vaalibar Sangam'. The best performance award was given to Vijay Sethupathy for 'Itharkkuthaaney Aasaipattaai Balakumara'.

    Entertainer of the year award was given to Sivakarthikeyan. Entertainer of the Indian Cinema was given to Shahrukh Khan.

    Best find of the year was gvien to George C. Williams. Best crew award was given to 'Ethirneechan'. Contribution to the Tamil Cinema was awarded for veteran director late Sri. Balu Mahendra. Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan award for excellence in Indian cinema was awarded to director Shankar.
