Over the next few months, Netflix will be making available to members in the U.S. recent releases from Bollywood studio heavyweights Reliance, Vista India and Disney UTV.
Bollywood, also referred to as Hindi cinema, is among the largest film production centers in the world, rivaling only Hollywood. Netflix is offering you the chance to reconnect with some of your favorite Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singu, Anushka Sharma, Karisma Kapoor and Salman Khan in films including Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl, Don 2, Ishquazaade, Dangerous Ishhq, Ek Tha Tiger, Bodyguard and Ajj De Ranjhe.
New fans to the genre can now become acquainted with acclaimed movies coming out of Bollywood this year, such as Barfi!, the story of a mute and deaf boy and his love triangle with two girls, one of whom is autistic. Available to stream on Netflix starting today, Barfi! stars Bollywood royalty Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and was recently selected to represent India in the Best Foreign Language category at the 85th Academy Awards next February.
"I am thrilled that Barfi! is now streaming on Netflix," says Barfi! star Ranbir Kapoor. "Through its availability on Netflix, Barfi! will be introduced to a broad global audience, and I hope this uplifting film will find new fans in the US."
"I am delighted that Netflix is now streaming so many of my films," says Priyanka Chopra. "I am equally excited be able to share my latest film Barfi! with a whole new audience. Each one of these films is so different from each other but each has a special place in my heart. I know for sure you will be entertained!"
