Mumford & Sons, Kanye, Jay Z lead Grammy nominations

Los Angeles, Dec 6 (IANS) It's neck to neck competition at the 55th Grammy awards. English rock band Mumford & Sons along with Black Keys, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and Jay Z are leading the nomination list with six nods each.

Mumford & Sons have won six nominations for their album "Babel" in categories like album of the year, best rock performance, best Americana album, best song written for visual media. They have also been nominated in best long form music video for "Big Easy Express", according to official Grammy website.

Rapper Kanye West has been nominated for in the best rap performance category with two songs "N****s In Paris" and "Mercy".

Both of these songs have also also been nominated in best rap song category. West also won a nomination in best pap/sung collaboration and best short form music video for song "No Church In The Wild", which he composed along with Frank Ocean and Jay Z.

Other categories that Frank Ocean is nominated in are - album of the year for "Channel Orange", best new artist, best urban contemporary album and record of the year for "Thinkin Bout You" from Channel Orange.

American rock band Black Keys is also in the run for awards with a nomination each in categories like record of the year for "Lonely Boy", album of the year, best rock song, best rock performance, best rock song and best rock album.

Apart from best rap/sung collaboration and best short form music video, singer Jay Z been nominated for best rap song for "N****s In Paris" and two nominations in best rap performance category for "N****s In Paris" and "I Do".

Two of his songs also feature in best rap/sung collaboration - while one is "No Church In The Wild", the other one is "Talk That Talk" with Rihanna.

There are a total of 81 categories at the 55th Grammy awards, which will be held Feb 10 in Los Angeles,
