Well on watching Bhoot, one just has that strong feeling that Ram Gopal Verma is going to give us something to be afraid of...very afraid, and yes he succeeds very well in doing just that. The film revolves around a newly wed couple Vishal (Ajay Devgan) and Swati (yes you guessed it Urmila Matondkar) who on arrival in the big Mumbai city seek residence. Vishal decides upon a particular flat but is warned by the agent that the previous tenant killed herself by jumping off the balcony, which to him does not seem a problem, thus he chooses not to tell Swati.

The moving process goes well and the couple settle. The local naukerani (played excellently by Seema Biswas) asks for work and is granted by Swati. However the sequence of events that follow uproot the young couples lives completely and the buried truth about the previous tenant is revelaed. Swati soon comes to know of the situation before and claims that she has seen the girl who used to reside in the flat, Vishal presumes that it is all a pscyological issue and continues to reassure Swati. The reassurance lasts for a small period until one day Swati has a complete change of personality and becomes violent and screams for help, Vishal feels helpless and turns to a variety of people to help solve the situation, which in turn leads to the concluding, yet horrifying truth!!

Well one has to say hats off to Ramu for daring to go different. In Bhoot he has used the camera to go places where the characters visions would go and the impact he has makes you literally jump off the seat, not only that he creates anxiety in not knowing what to expect next!! To say that Ramu has delivered would be an understatement, he has left out all the typical horror tricks and gone for the todays chills and thrills.

Credit must also be given to the writers Sameer Sharma and Lalit Marathe for devising such an interesting storyline that keeps you guessing who and what is the Bhoot! Vishal Sinhas cinematography is absolutley breathtaking and gives you a great feeling of todays generation. The sound effects by Dwark Warriors are the main cause of the jump and shakes you will experience as well as the background score by Salim Suleman.

Performance wise you are not disappointed. Ajay Devgan as Vishal has gone for the image and coolness that his character is, and yet it is hard to believe that this is the same actor who gave us Bhagat Singh not long ago. He looks good and delivers well. Seema Biswas as the naukerani has played her charcter to the tip of perfection. Though she has a few scenes you walk out remembering her for her small yet effective lines. Rekha, Tanuja, Nana Patekar and Fardeen Khan all lend brilliant support and again get into their characters fully

But the one actor who deserves all the recognition is Urmila. If you remember her character in the climax of Pyar Tune Kya Kiya you will remember Bhoot. Not only does she look like a million dollars, she keeps her character in control and does not go overboard in her dramatic scenes. Her make up and hair fit perfectly into her characters situation throughout the film and yet she leaves you remebering to be afraid...be very afraid!!!!!

And for the audience its definatly worth the watch..just dont sleep alone after watching!!
