Deepika Padukone shoots the grand climax scene of Padmavati

After facing many hurdles and disruptions, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally resumed the shooting of his magnum opus 'Padmavati.' And recently the maverick director even shot the crucial climax sequence of his film featuring Deepika Padukone along with 300 junior artistes.

In the climax scene, Deepika Padukone, who plays Rani Padmavati in the film, performs a Jauhar or mass self-immolation. Jauhar was a custom practiced by Rajput women to avoid being captured or raped by invaders.

Naturally, it was a very intense scene and Deepika had to don an armour weighing almost seven kilos, and shoot in it for several hours. But despite the tediousness of the sequence, Deepika gave her best and impressed SLB with her performance.

A source present on the set revealed, "Deepika Padukone was exceptional in the scene. It was an emotional sequence and took some time to be shot. As good as 300 junior artistes were present on the set. A lot of gunny bags were kept on the set, just as a precaution to avoid any sort of tragedy. The security on the set was also beefed up so that no details or looks from the shoot get leaked."

Reportedly, now there are some war sequences that have to be shot followed by a face-off between Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

'Padmavati' is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
