After essaying the role of Aamir Khan's daughter in 'Dangal', where she played the character of Geeta Phogat, Fatima Sana Shaikh has now been roped in to star opposite the superstar in Yash Raj Films' 'Thugs Of Hindostan.'

Initially, it was reported that Aditya Chopra was not very keen on casting Fatima opposite Aamir as he has recently played her father and the audience would find it difficult to accept them together onscreen. However, he got convinced once Fatima auditioned for the role and gave a look test.

Talking about playing Aamir Khan's heroine now after playing his daughter, Fatima said in an interview to a daily, "I knew that people are going to think like this. I am an actor after all. Suppose if I hadn't acted in 'Dangal,' and got an offer to act opposite Aamir sir, I would have, of course, said yes."

Fatima added, "There have been so many instances of [female] actors playing mothers, daughters and lovers [with the same male actors]. That's our job, and you keep playing different characters from different age groups. So, I don't have any issues."

Writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya said in an official statement, "The role of the girl is pivotal to the film. So, it was crucial for us to find the perfect fit. Through a rigorous round of auditions and action workshops, we found in Fatima a truly dedicated actor and a gifted performer of action. We are very happy to have found the perfect girl for our film."

The shooting of 'Thugs Of Hindostan', which also features Amitabh Bachchan, will begin in June.
