AB SHOWS HIS METTLE

Rating i hated abhishek bachchan.i further hated him when he got ash babe by his side.but when i watched guru i respect him though i still not like him.this movie confirms the fact that he is the best actor( not star) among the bollywood heroes.he played the role of gurukant desai with such elegance, determination and ease and reminds me of mammootty at his prime.the old age of gurukant was played aplomb by ab.aishwarya was good in the movie and the bed scene with ab was funny as well as sexy.vidya balan it seems was roped in for that sexy and hot smooch in the rain with madhavan.she can really kiss well and she's hot on my list.madhavan did his part well and got a bonus in eating the dishy vidya's lips in the rain.those luscious lips of sexy, cute vidya balan.mithunda was at his impeccable best.music and cinematography by rehman and rajiv menon was excellent.maniratnam has delivered in bollywood with a classic.

Okay

Rating Well Mani Ratnam is a outstanding director but somehow I did not enjoy Guru. Abhishek played the part well and so did Aishwarya but I did not think there was any storyline or anything you can laugh about. It was just carrying on the same track and I felt it was boring. The music by AR Rehman was done superbly and the lyrics by Gulzar were fine and just suited perfectly. Mahadevan and Mithun and Vidya were hardly there and I don't see the need for them in the film. Overall I would give it 2/5. That is good.

Well Done ! Good Job

Rating For me its basic selling point was that it is a true story. I went to the theater with my children and explained to them in advance that they were going to see the true story of an "Indian Bill Gates". With that frame in mind, we really - really enjoyed true success story. Well done to the real star who inspired the making of the movie, and also well done to the makers of the movie. The real life engaged couple Abhishek and Ashwaria Rai did look good on screen too as the married couple. Good job once again to the makers of the movie.

About Guru film!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating I saw the movie in both languages. It was simply superb. At the end of the movie, I didn't even realise that the movie was over. It was a good try. I congratulated my wishes to the whole crew and cast. About dialogues, there is no word to say how good it is. Of course, A.R. Rehman has done a very good job. Do salaam to Sameerji for putting the great set. I was so amazed the way Rajiv Menon cranked the camera. Apart that, I liked the acting combo of Aishwaraya Rai and Abishek. I would have never thought that both would look so good on the screen together. About director, Maniratam is always "something different" type of guy. Mani's different thoughts should knock the door & knock the people's mind in Hollywood too like ARRehman. I was so amazed after hearing one of ARRehman's song as a title song in English movie. Mani is the one who showed ARRehman to this world. Why should Mani be coming to the Hollywood? It's not about hollywood or bollywood, it's about spreading India 's powerful thoughts to this world. I'm sure that can be achieved only thru' by media. I want my director to extend his tremendous success in Hollywood too. Once again wish him all a sucess for his forthcoming project too. And also once again I'm congratulating the whole cast & crew of Guru. I'm sure that Guru is an award winning movie.

Guru-A Masterpiece

Rating Touted as a bio-pic based on Reliance's Dheerubhai Ambani's life, the movie is very grasping and has been handled very well by the master of story telling - Mani Ratnam. Irrespective of how his films are received by the paying public, no one can deny the fact that a Mani Ratnam film is special! Special in many ways!!!! This time Mani, the supremely talented storyteller narrates the story of a man who rises from nothing and becomes the premier industrialist of the country through sheer hard work, determination, passion and grit. GURU is tremendously inspiring and makes anyone feel all the more confident to encounter challenges and hurdles that may crop up in a journey called life. This movie will add to his credentials as a superb film maker who has given us the great visual delights like Roja, Bombay, Dil Se..., Yuva, Alaipayuthey, Kannattil Muthamittal, Geetanjali ! Every sequence in GURU bears the stamp of a genius and the outcome is tremendous!!! Coming to performances, its truly Abhishek's movie and he would surely win all the awards this time for his tremendous performance as the main protogonist! He makes us laugh, he makes us cry and we relieve all the emotions that he experiences. The role demands him to portray a guy in his teenage to his old age and Abhishek does it too much to perfection. The makeup and body language to suit various stages in his life are the main highlights. This movie truly would be a giant leap for this talented actor.
Aishwarya too gives a superb performance and impresses everyone with her acting. The chemistry between Abhishek and Aishwarya is too good to watch! We feel very much for her when she takes up the role of her husband's voice when he is half-paralyzed and cannot speak.
The other performance which draws our attention is by our own Mithun-da who delivers a natural performance all through. This just reminded me of the real Mithun after a long time since Agneepath and Prem Pratigyaa which were his best serious performances till date.Madhavan is just there but is as charming and refreshing when he confronts Guru. Vidya Balan as Nanaji's disabled daughter and later Madhavan's wife is just there doing nothing much. Arya Babbar is wasted in a bit role. Mallika Sherawat just dances to the tunes of "Maiyya Maiyya" when Guru is in Turkey. The other commendable performances are by Manoj Joshi, Roshan Seth (as chief of investgating commission) and Sachin Khedekar.

Music has always been a intimate part of Maniratnam's movies and as usual A R Rahman holds the show here. " Maiyya Maiyya" and "Barso re Barso" are too good to hear and watch. "Tere Bina" is a duet which is very melodious. "Ek Lo Ek Muft" is a funny song sung by Bappi Lahiri which Guru sings celbrating the birth of his twin daughters. The background score by Rahman is topnotch.

Rajiv Menon's cinematography is truly of international quality where he captures everything from the 1950s look till present day. The scenic beauty of Hampi and Badami are a treat to watch on the big screen. The last five minutes of the movie where Menon uses different camera speeds to give a superb effect to the scene where Guru gives his statment in front of the enquiry commission. Vijay Krishna Acharya's dialogues are too good. The writing in the last twenty minutes of the movie is fantastic.

There are a few loose ends in the movie though as in Guru's confrontation with Jignesh is not very well explained and also the romance between Madhavan and Vidya is somewhat out of track. (their smooch is very aesthetically filmed ...:) )

On the whole, GURU is one of the finest films to come out of the Hindi film industry. Three Cheers to Mani for giving us such a movie. It has already got good opening everywhere and the recent Abhi-Aish engagement will surely add to its success.

A perfect wedding gift for each other

Rating Mani Ratnam’s Guru holds forte for the whole movie period and lets it off at the end. The enthralling story of the rags to riches is a true tribute to Dhirubhai and his business acumen. It is also a peek into the way business is and should be run in present times. The shackes of the licence raj and how the protagonist Gurukant Desai breaks them is beautifully depicted. The fearless Guru makes

his way wherever he goes. It also shows that in today’s business education or the lack of it is no deterrent. Dhirubhai and Bill Gates are examples of this .
Gurukant enacted by Abhishek lives up to the character. The smiling face, the twinkle in the eye shows that he is confident of himself. The interactions are also at extremes, with the snobbish he is rude but with the friends and relatives he is subdues. A heady mixture of earthy charm and brilliance is what Abhishek shows in a neatly drawn character of Guru.
Ash as his wife who has lost in love and marries Guru out of no choice is also restrained and supports Guru not getting awed by the brilliance of the character and showing the strength that was trademark of Dhirubhai’s wife Kokilaben.
Mithun Chakravarty shows flashes of his Mrigayaa brilliance in the character of the media baron and how his love turns into hate and how he goes on to be the ruthless media baron after he knows that Guru has used his media is a fine effort by a veteran actor.
Vidya Balan acts well but her life and death are not well integrated into the story and bear no relevance to Guru and his life. Madhavan too as the journalist in the cameo acts well.
The story of a rural boy who goes to Istanbul to trade and comes back to India to set up his own business, marries for the sake of dowry to set up his business, finds his way through the market, sets up his textile plants , takes care of his shareholders , gets into trouble with the Government in his fast rise , is paralysed, fights back and comes out a winner.
Guru is ruthless and shows no emotion for what is right or wrong . This is shown by his marrying Ash for the need of 25000 rupees as seed capital. He again uses the newspaper of his Nanaji to get the membership. He bribes officials and ministers to get clearances. This shows that all is fair in war and business.
The only weak point in the movie is that after building up the second half with misery for Guru, the jury makes up its mind to punish Guru. Only one lecture of Guru makes the learned men overturn their decision . The lecture is not logical. Its emotional. Here also Guru is more interested in the public trial and makes the most of it. But the sequence in which he equates himself with Gandhiji does not bear semblance to Dhirubhai and brings the movie to an abrupt end as if a racing car comes to a screeching halt.
AR Rehman is fantastic with his music, as usual and uses Hariharan,Bappi and Shreya to the hilt and also the Mayya Crooner.
Mallika Sherawat does her bit but is not as hot as the song.
All in all the blemish is only at the end. Otherwise a good movie.

Aishwarya = 9/10 (-1 for bad relation ships) Baby bacchan = 4/10

 Aishwarya,
Great as Sujatha, Baby Bacchan is no Diru/ Guru

Aishwarya habitually picks men who are below her caliber, and then when these men get control of her, they put her down, out of their insecurity, and fear of losing her.
Baby Bacchan is constantly put down by his father. Almost emotional abuse. Abused people hero worship abusers and try to measure up, and take their rage on and get sadistic with people who are under them.

Marriage is the beginning and not the end of any complicated life.
Dhiru/ guru had his vision /own mind/ ideas, This Baby Bacchan is trying to measure up to daddy dearest.

Baby Bacchan is rude to female co stars, He is already patronising Aishwarya and passing judgements on her already, like his father did to him.
Baby Bacchan 'a one hit wonder', is telling a self made star / Global celebrity how to conduct herself already.

Find a guy like Jaya Bacchan did, a self made man with determination and strength and not with a every body loves raymond family, who cannot and do not trust his strenghth, and come attached to your baby Bacchan's shirt sleeves.

Aishwarya, keep your profession, and do not try to appease and give in to Bacchan demands. God gives beauty and brains with a purpose. Do not discredit yourself.
Finally, gays come in all kinds of religions, families, shapes and sizes and colors. Watch baby bacchan's male oriented inclinations, may be just emotional. There are emotional / soft gays, who will never be fair to any women, mother or wife.
