For quite some time Abhay Deol has toyed with the idea of turning a producer. He almost did when he signed Navdeep Singh to direct Basra. But the film got stalled. With One By Two the actor finally achieves his dream.

One By Two sees a couple of more 'firsts'. The film sees the debut of Devika Bhagat as a director. Devika has been the thinking mind behind the scripts of movies such as Bachna Ae Haseeno, Manorama Six Feet Under, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Aisha. She has also been associated with Hollywood film The Bourne Supremacy, as the second unit director: India.

The film also sees Abhay Deol teaming with his real-life girlfriend Preeti Desai. The actress was earlier seen in Shor In The City.
One by Two is a story about two people from Mumbai - Amit and Samara. It is about them coming together, against odds, and falling in love. And in process it is a story about coming of age of these two individuals. While director Devika is no stranger to rom-coms, this is Abhay Deol's only third in the genre after his debut film Socha Na Tha and Aisha.

Like most movies One By Two has had its share of limelight in the run up to release. However unlike others the limelight has been more because of serious issues in promotions than planned strategies - with T series walking out as the music partner of the film.

Things started when Abhay Deol protested against certain clauses that T Series makes music directors and singers sign before releasing the film's music. While many from the music fraternity have been complaining about these, this is the first time a producer came out in such strong protest and in turn lost T Series as a partner. This resulted in much delay in the release of the film's music. The music of the film has been composed by the trio Shankar Ehsaan and Loy.
One By Two releases on Jan 31, 2014
