Vangaveeti is about the rivalry between Devineni and Vangaveeti families in 1970s and 1980s which panned out into a war between two castes. The movie is the phase between the year 1970 - when Chalasani Venkata Ratnam's monopoly in Vijayawada rowdyism began and till 1988 when Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga was killed. It involves the murders or Chalasani Venkataratnam, Vangaveeti Radha, Devineni Gandhi, Devineni Murali and Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.

Ram Gopal Varma is a Master in dealing with the Biopics of the Gangsters. This movie since the day it is announced invoked so much of curiosity, expecting that Ram Gopal Varma as a student of Siddhardha Engineering College had a ringside view of the happenings during that time. But then Ramu chose not to go into the detailing or controversies. He totally ignored the details of Post Ranga murder violence which are the actual crux of the controversy. Finally, the movie ended up as a documentary of murders that happened during that time in Vijayawada.

Casting is the biggest plus of the film and is so authentic. Sandeep who acted as both Vangaveeti Radha and Ranga is a perfect fit of his looks and the performance also stands out. Shritej who acted as Devineni Nehru is also a good fit for the role. Naina Ganguly is okay in the limited role.

Ram Gopal Varma's Voiceover is too loud and irritates. The lip sync of few artists does not match at all revealing RGV's seriousness on the film. Some of the montage songs come in too frequently and come with poor quality lyrics. Ram Gopal Varma's film usually comes with intense dialogues but they are missing here. Production Values are disappointing.

Finally, Vangaveeti ends up more like a documentary of the murders that happened in the feud between Vangaveeti and Devineni families. But people looking for some unknown events and who is the culprit kind of judgments will be very disappointed.
