Fidaa  ( U ) (2017)  (Telugu)
Fidaa is an absolute delight for those who like Sekhar Kammula films. It is not Sekhar Kammula's best but the director has come up with a heart-warming love story. Minor issues in the second half but the film works. Go Watch!

Rate this movie:
Raju (Raja Chembolu) and his brother, Varun (Varun Tej) are NRIs who come to a village near Bansuwada to match fix Raju to Renuka (Saranya Pradeep). As they prepare for marriage, love blooms between Varun and Renuka's Sister, Bhanumati (Sai Pallavi). Rest of the story is about their love story and the conflict arises between them.

Varun Tej is very natural in the role of an NRI and a lover. But he looked bulky at places which he has to take care of. Sai Pallavi is a sensation in her Telugu debut movie. She excelled as a bubbly beauty and is very impressive in her own dubbing with Telangana Accent. Siri Vennala's son, Raja Chambolu and Saranya Pradeep are good. Rest of the characters are okay.

The first half is very good for all sections of the audience despite slow narration at times with the marriage scene and the love story with fights between the lead pair. The second half slows down midway as Bhanumathi's character is diluted.

Sekhar Kammula is back to his stronghold middle-class sensibilities and subtle romance touching the right emotions. There is nothing new in the story with only Telangana and America Backdrops bringing in the change. Sekhar Kammula is back to the winning ways. The background score by Shashi Kanth is decent and all the songs are good. Vijay C Kumar's camera work is superb and the editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is decent. The Production Values by Sri Venkateswara Creations are grand.

Finally, Fidaa is an absolute delight for those who like Sekhar Kammula films. It is not Sekhar Kammula's best but the director has come up with a heart-warming love story. Minor issues in the second half but the film works. Probably it may not strike a chord with all kind of audiences but we need such honest and personal films in Telugu cinema. Go Watch!

Fantastic movie. Simple love story keeps you entertained for over 2 hours. Varun excelled in his role and is a welcome change to several other heroes known for their over the top acting and loud dialogues. He is well on his way to super stardom. Pallavi was awesome in her maiden Telugu movie.   Fidaa User Rating

VIJAY BOJEDLA
Not a stereotypical Telugu movie. It does not have axe murders
or silly stupid fights where 1 hero beats up 15 people, sometimes even without touching them
But if you would like to take your wife and children, or your girl friend for a nice outing after dinner, this Movie is for you
You will not regret it. For people in US, maybe 15 to 20 min too long. But a delight non the less.
