Chalo  ( UA ) (2018)  (Telugu)
Chalo is a decent rom-com with an interesting premise. Curious set-up, promising love story and Satya's comedy make-up for good first half. The second half is the downer with good comedy by Vennela Kishore.

Chalo has an interesting premise of a village Tiruppuram which is divided into half during the bifurcation of AP and Tamil Nadu in 1953. Chalo is the story of a young lad Hari (Naga Shourya) who comes to this village for studies and happens to love a girl. But then, his love story is in a fix until the dispute between both the villages is not revolved. What happens next in his love story forms the rest.

Naga Shourya is a his best in the film and has impressed big time with his Performance in a character which has ample scope to satisfy the audience. Rashmika Mandanna makes a confident debut in Tollywood and gives a feel of promise. Satya and Vennela Kishore have excelled in the comedy department. The rest of the supporting cast fits well.

The first half of the film is especially good and the second half is bogged down by slow pace here and there but then a high dose of entertainment particularly by Vennela Kishore saved the second half. It would have been a perfect Rom-Com if the romantic angle is dealt well but still the movie works.

The debutante director Venky Kudumula did a fine job with this rom-com. The narration worked perfectly and the dialogues deserve a special mention. Comedy works well while a little care in the romance would have worked wonders for the film. Sagar Mahathi has come up with very good songs and the Background Score is also equally appealing. Sai Sriram's camera work is adequate and editing is okay. Production Values are good.

Finally, Chalo is a decent rom-com with an interesting premise. Curious set-up, promising love story and Satya's comedy make-up for good first half. The second half is the downer with good comedy by Vennela Kishore.
