Directory Blessy did succeed to champion a social issue through his successful movie Kazhcha. Thanmatra is yet another attempt by him to spot the light the life of blue collar government workers especially the secretariat staff.
Rameshan portrays an employee at the secretariat who lives on a pay check to pay check with limited income. Movie is based on the emotions and life of Ramesh who is married to Lekha. They lead a happy & loving married life. Though he lives in the city, his heart belongs to the villages. Ramesh is a man of principal and reflects that in his day to day activities including in the union activities which cause him trouble at times. Shobha was Rameshs would-be (Murappennu) but the marriage didnt happen. This haunts him and leads to more trouble.
