Aandavan had aspirations of becoming a police officer. But he ends up becoming a thief. And no ordinary thief at that. He is a specialist. He only steals from the house and the establishments of Kavungal Sivasankara Panicker, the local tycoon. This, despite having Panicker's own son as the Circle Inspector of Police. Not withstanding the elaborate security measures put in place, Aandavan is able to work his way around and execute the most daring and ingenuous of heists.
Female Sub-Inspector of Police Sreerekha is put in charge of the investigations to bring the culprit to book. As chance would have it, she takes up residence on the ground floor of Aandavan's house, unaware that her landlord is the criminal she is after. Aandavan on the other hand is aware of her mission. As the film evolves one understands the reason behind Aandavan's area of specialization and his targeting of Sivasankara Panicker. In the final denouement Sreerekha understands the motive behind Aandavan's criminal activity. Her own life is changed in the process.
Aandavan provides considerable scope for Kalabhavan Mani to display his histrionic talent. Sindhu Menon plays Sreerekha. Jagathy plays the role of Sivasankara Panicker. Tamil actor Anand enacts the role of his son the Circle Inspector of Police. Sasi Paravoor is the director. Story, script and dialogue are by Rajesh Jayaraman. Vipin Mohan handles the camera. Lyrics penned by Kaithapram and Bappu Veliparambu are put to music by Alex Paul.
