Thanthra - the debut vehicle of KJ Bose is everything that a film should not have been. From start to finish, the film is a mess. It is very evident that the director did not have a finished script to rely on, and he has only himself to blame because the story and the screenplay are his very own. The script must have evolved - and evolved rather badly - as the filming progressed.

The director's claims about it being the first Indian film to explore the Tantric way of life, is nothing but crap. The film doesn't offer anything other than bits and pieces of Ananthabhadram in total disarray. The director seems to have had no clue when to say Action or when to say Cut, leaving the audience also clueless and in a state of utter bewilderment. Gaps in the storyline leave the audience to assume too many things.

The star cast consisting of five or six people, makes a heroic effort to salvage something that was doomed even before it got started. Siddique tries hard not to resemble Manoj K Jayan in Ananthabhadram with hardly any success. And so do the others.
