The movie is very simple and clean without much of twists and turns.

After past disasters by Rajshri Production, I was sure that there will be very low expectations for this movie. But it turned out to be wrong when I saw almost everyone at the theatre getting tickets for Vivah. Having such a good response for first day first show was kind of rare.
The movie is very simple and clean without much of twists and turns. Mr. Harishchandra (Anupam Kher) gets a proposal for his son, Prem's (Shahid Kapur) marriage from Poonam's (Amrita Rao) chacha (Alok Nath). Though Prem was not ready but he agrees to meet Poonam after hesitations.
They both like each other in the first meeting and both agree for the marriage. Poonam's chacha does his best for the preparation of the marriage but their house catches fire just a day before the marriage. What happens after that? Will the marriage happen? It is for you to watch.
This will be a very short narration of the movie but it gives outline of the movie because the movie is mainly about the relation which Prem and Poonam share before the marriage. It is about their feelings, their love, understandings and lot more. The movie also focuses on the relation of Poonam and her chachi (Seema Biswas), who does not like Poonam because she looks better than her daughter. Hold on, do not think about typical stuff that we see in daily soaps, there is nothing like that in this movie. It is just a viewpoint of the director to show the characters and explore the relationships between the characters.
The movie stretches till almost 3 hours, it makes you yawn, it makes you laugh and it also makes you cry. Yes, it might make elders and emotional people cry. After all, it is Sooraj Barjatya film, it has to be with power packed emotions. The movie is like typical Indian movie full of songs, drama, emotions and
flaws
. Music of the movie disappoints a lot, music plays integral part in success of the movie but it simply fails. Couple of songs fit in the situation well but that is not enough to keep you seated in the songs. One more flaw in the movie was, narration of the story, overall it was good but in few instances it feels bit stretched.
To sum up the movie:
Story
: Simple story with not much of twists but leaves a good message in the end.
Music
: Biggest drawback of the movie which disappoints completely.
Acting
: Amrita Rao looks beautiful as ever and even acts well. Shahid fits very well in the image of new Prem (earlier it was Salman Khan in Barjatya's family movies). Anupam Kher, Alok Naath, Seema Biswas, Sameer Soni and other characters did their job well. Not much of overacting apart from couple of emotional scenes between Prem and Poonam. (Which ended up making people laugh)
So overall, I would give this movie
2.5 stars out of 5
. The movie could have easily done better if it had few things in place.
Prediction Meter
: The movie has got very good chances of doing well in rural parts of india and small towns / cities. The movie is definitely not for the today's generation, but it will be liked by age range of 35+. The movie might do well but there is absolutely no chance of it reaching at the stage of Hum Aapke Hai Kaun or Maine Pyar Kiya.
