This is comedian-TV personality Chinni Jayanth's second directorial venture, his first being "Unakkaga Mattum". Jayanth is staging a comeback to cinema after a gap of 23 years. He made his debut in "Kai Kodukkum Kai", and has acted in 308 films. Besides directing , Jayanth has written the story, screenplay and dialogue for "Kaanal Neer". He introduces a new face, Riteesh, who is the grandson of State Minister Suba Thangavelu, as the hero. Actress Manisha from Mumbai debuts as the heroine. The theme is - man can be regarded as God if he owns his mistakes and inflicts punishment on himself. Chinni plays the role of a mentally challenged person. At the end of the film, he appears as a 90-year-old person. Newcomer Sriram has composed the music.
