Victoria No.203 is a ride better avoided.

Victoria No.203 directed by Anand Mahadevan is a fun-filled, light comic. The movie is a remake of 1992's movie under the same title which was a huge success then. With the same story will the new version out shine the older one?
The story exposes the theft of a set of exquisite and exclusive diamonds worth 300 crores and the people involved in this theft. Bobby Bombata (Javed Jaffery) a rich businessman and his girl friend set their eyes on these diamonds. As they fail to acquire it directly from the owner, they plan a robbery with the help of Ranjit (Kamal Sadanah). They heir a bugler Tora to execute their plan. But Tora has a different agenda and with the help of her brother she swindles. In this process she gets killed by Ranjit but before dying she manages to hide the diamonds in a carriage, Victoria No.203. Raman the driver of the carriage is unaware of the hidden diamonds and offers to help the dying Tora. Jimmy Joseph (Jimmy Shergill), a diamond expert is also trying to track down the diamonds. The story also entails Raja (Anupam Kher) and Rana (Om Puri), two old aged small time crooks who were just released from the jail. Raman's daughter Sara takes up the responsibility of freeing her father by proving his innocence. A series of events in the quest for these diamonds entangle all these character into a puzzling mesh...
The story line is excellent to be a wonderful comic caper. It had once done wonders and succeeded in being a successful movie. But the contemporary version fails to live up to the expectations. The movie lacks the essence and the energy that a comedy and action genre demands. With such a fine script, the director could have set the movie hall into laughter but all that prevailed was silence. Romance was just not in the air. The first half of the movie was slow paced and dull. The beginning of the second half too was mind-numbing but the latter part of the movie leading to the climax was amusing. Music is average. Cinematography was good.
Jimmy Shergill hams throughout. His performance is below average. Soniya Vinod Mehra needs to work on her expressions and her performance is strictly ok. Om Puri and Anupam Kher duo was just satisfactory. Their performance could have been better. Javeed Jaffrey is excellent. Preeti Jhangiani is just OK. Kamal Sadanah is decent.
Overall, Victoria No.203 is a ride better avoided.
