'Jayam Kondaan,' may not be great, but a good effort on his debut by Kannan.

"Jayam Kondan", produced by Satya Jyothi Movies, is not of one particular genre. It is a bundle of emotions - jealousy, hatred and betrayal.

1 stars 'Jeyam Kondan' is a loser all the way! - Ayyappa Prasad    Sat, 30 Aug 2008
"Jeyam Kondan" (the victorious one), the latest offering from Satyajothi Films, is so haphazardly made that one can dub it a loser all the way. But Lekha Washington shines, giving a brilliant performance in her debut.

The movie is a litany of the woes of NRI Arjun (Vinay). When he returns home he finds that he had been sending money to his dead father. He also finds out that his half-sister Brinda (Lekha Washington) is eyeing his ancestral property. She wants to sell it off and use the money to fund her higher education abroad.

Brinda even approaches a gangster (Kishore), leading to fights between the criminal and the hero.

Vinay's character is being taken for a ride, but he looks feckless in front of the camera.

Amidst all this, Bhawna comes in to fill up the glamour quotient of this rather insipid fare. But Bhawna too is quite expressionless.

The less said about the comic interludes by Vivek the better, but camera work is good and the songs are peppy.

Director Kannan was an assistant to acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who has given hits like "Roja" and "Bombay".

But after seeing Kannan's end-product, one wonders whether he learnt anything at all from the ace filmmaker.

Music director Vidyasagar has created six catchy songs.
