'Vellathooval', coming from veteran director I.V. Sasi, tells the story of two teenagers - Manu and Jiya. Manu is the son of Sofia, a widow for whom he is the whole world. Shortly after Sofia was widowed, another man, Zachariah, came into her life and subsequently married her. Though she thought he would prove to be a pillar of strength and support for her as well for her son, things went wrong and Zachariah became a burden for them. He made life hell for Sofia and Manu.
It's at this juncture that Manu decides to leave home. But he is not alone. He has company in Jiya, who has problems of her own. When the two move together, society eyes them from the usual perspective, seeing them as lovers. What Manu and Jiya share however, is not love but friendship.
'Goal' fame Rejith Menon becomes Manu while 'Akashagopuram' fame Nithya is Jiya. Seetha is Sofia while Vijayaraghavan plays Zachariah. Laloo Aalex and Seema play Jiya's parents. It is after a gap of years that scenarist John Paul and I.V. Sasi are teaming up. The film also sees cinematographer Anandakuttan cranking the camera for an I.V.Sasi movie for the first time. Produced under the banner of Anugraha Arts, the film is almost ready for release.
