Kudumbasree Travels tells the story of Chithirapuram village where a bunch of simple people live together in harmony.
Kudumbasree Travels is the name of an old bus on which they set out to the city, to attend the marriage function of Aravindan, a chakyarkoothu artiste from the village. The bus is the only transport service available from the village to the city.
Aravindan's uncle Pachu has sinister plans in mind, and would go to any length to prevent the marriage from happening. Pachu's would love Aravindan to get married to his daughter instead of Aswathi as has already been decided.
The marriage party meets Sreedevi on the way, and this encounter is a turning point in the story. Jayaram plays Aravindan, and would be seen in a role that would let him play up his strong points as an actor.
The cast includes actors as Jagathi Sreekumar, Janardhanan, Maniyanpilla Raju, Mamukkoya, P. Sreekumar, Mohan Ayeroor, Kottayam Nazeer, Sidharth, Kalabhavan Haneef, Shijoy, Vettukili Prakash, Niyas backer, Manoj, Bhavana, KPAC Lalitha, Kalpana, Radhika, Kulappilly Leela, Valsala Menon and Anjana.
