Who would have forgotten the classic 'Rathinirvedam' of the 70's that rewrote the very fundamentals of Malayalam cinema? The film that starred Jayabharathi and Krishnachandran in the lead roles was a runaway hit as well.

Now several years later, T K Rajeev Kumar has remade the film in Malayalam, and this time around the roles essayed by Jayabharathi and Krishnachandran in the original film would be played by Shwetha Menon and Sreejith.

The film tells the story of Pappu, a teenager who is besotted by his beautiful neighbor Rathi chechi, who is much older to him. He longs to have a clandestine affair with her with disastrous consequences.

The all new 'Rathinirvedam' has been produced by Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathy Kalamandir. This would be the banner's second remake after the successful 'Neelathamara' remake that hit the screens last year.

'Rathinirvedam' would be released in July 2011.
