Riding on the success of 'Happy Husbands' and learning a lesson from 'Four Friends', Director Saji Surendran and scenarist Krishna Poojapura are trying their luck again in 'Husbands in Goa' with the tried and tested formula of comedy. But what can be said about a film which is intended to be a comedy film but turning out to be a boring and unbearable experience.
The plot narrates the escapade of 3 husbands from the shackles of their wives. They go on a trip to Goa to flee from their nagging wives. On their way they befriend a freaky, middle-aged man who too shares their views.
The pleasure trip turns out to be ludicrous one when they were joined by their wives at Goa.
In the acting department apart from Jayasurya and Indrajith no one has made an impression. It is painful to see an actor and artist with immense potential like Lal is being wasted in such substandard works.
The female characters (Rima, Bhama, Remya Nambisan, and the Goan friends) have nothing much to do with the limited script.
It seems that the director and the writer firmly believe that speaking in inebriated condition in never ending boozing sessions automatically qualifies for comedy. But the scenes and sequences are just pathetic.
In an attempt to get publicity or attention or whatever may be the reason the film has included the song 'Pichaka Poomkavukal' from the yester year hit 'Number 20 Madras Mail'. The picturisation of the song sequence is a disgrace to the original song and song sequence.
The script lacks imagination and it is predictable too. With a weak script in hands, director Saji Surendran has nothing special to offer. In short it is film you can go and watch leaving your brain at home.
