Bachna Ae Haseeno isn't whimsically romantic or rip-roaringly funny- but it sure is a 'time pass' flick- and for once, the time passed isn't spent writhing in pain.

Cleverly crafted and structured to contour the severely flawed characters, "Bachna Ae Haseeno" is not meant to be a mammoth social comment on love and marriage. But in its own tongue-in-cheek manner it manages to say plenty about life in the fast lane.

Bachna Ae Haseeno is a decent family entertainer. Good performances, great songs, beautiful locales and an entertaining first hour. Above average.

First and foremost let me pay my tributes to the legendary song sung by Kishore Kumar; Bachna Ae Haseeno Lo Mein Aagaya... The classic song remains with you long after you leave theatres. The movie title inspired by the song title is directed by Siddharth Anand who previously directed movies like 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' and 'Salaam Namaste'. Ranbir has three sexy co-stars in the movie Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba.

Why do girls always fall for the wrong guy? Their mothers warn them about him. Their friends shake their heads disapprovingly. Their minds tell them to escape while the going is good. But no! Their hearts are another story.

The hearts always send different signals. And no matter how hard they try, the girls can't help falling for him. His name alone is enough to scramble their brains and set their hearts racing.

Meet Raj. He is the stuff of dreams, with the looks that can make any girl swoon. Who can blame him for falling in love as many times as love is fortunate enough to find him. It's not his fault that he's a heartbreaker, it's in his DNA.

Come... discover his three love stories: tales of Raj and Mahi, Raj and Radhika, Raj and Gayatri. Different ladyloves at different times in his life.

Each romantic adventure teaches Raj a little bit about love and a little bit about life...

I can't recollect how many movies in recent times have suffered from the great-first-half-poor-second syndrome. Bachna Ae Haseeno is yet another case of an enjoyable first half followed by a poor emotionally stretched second. Yes, the characters are easy to identify with but would you really go out of your way, spend a fortune on travelling and other expenses just so that your 12 year old 2-day crush forgives you? And why would someone so romantic loose trust in the whole concept of love for a crush?

The Bipasha and Ranbir story is far more realistic than the other two, but even that is not without its share of flaws. Deepika and Ranbir part is utterly unconvincing. Also the movie should ideally have been 20 - 30 minutes shorter.

Flaws apart, Bachna Ae Haseeno is entertaining and has something in it for everyone, right from the youngsters to the family audience. Bipasha Basu has the meatiest role amongst the ladies and she delivers a powerful performance. Deepika Padukone role is very brief. Minissha Lamba needs to work on her dialogue delivery.

But Bachna Ae Haseeno is Ranbir Kapoor's show all the way. In just his second film, the talented scion from the Kapoor clan proves his acting ability once again. He has a great screen presence too.

The movie is also worth a watch for the beautiful locations it has been shot in. The music by Vishal and Shekhar is splendid. Khuda Jaane rocks!

To sum things up, Bachna Ae Haseeno is a decent family entertainer. Good performances, great songs, beautiful locales and an entertaining first hour. Above average.
