Police file case in court over Mahath-Manoj clash

  • Police have filed a case in a Saidapet magistrate's court in Chennai in connection with the alleged attack on actor Mahath by Telugu actor Manoj Manchu in the small hours of July 8 at a party in Royapettah.

    Police registered a case against Manoj and four others and were investigating on a complaint from Mahath. Security guard Anbazhagan was arrested on the charges of obstructing the police from discharging their public duty. The 'booz' party was reportedly organized by a north Indian businessman, Pratap Rane (40), whose premises is on Lloyds Road. Royapettah, and a case was registered against him also.

    Fearing arrest Manoj surfaced in the City after Mahath had filed the complaint and reportedly apologized to Mahath and reached a "compromise" with him.

    As Mahath has not withdrawn his complaint after the compromise, the police have filed a case in a Saidapet Magistrate's court. The law requires both Mahath and Manoj to file a petition in the court stating that they have reached a compromise and that Mahath's complaint be treated as withdrawn.

    Meanwhile actress Taapsee, who was suspected to be the cause of the clash between Manoj and Mahath, posted on a social networking site that: "Oh God!. Take a break please! I am not in any relationship with anyone! That's it."

    The actress is currently acting in Manoj's sister Lakshmi Mancu's bilingual film "Maranthaen Mannithaen".
