Rahman rules the charts with 'Barso re'

  • New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) The fate of Mani Ratnam's long awaited "Guru" will be decided Friday but A.R. Rahman's music in the film is already a hit, particularly "Barso re" which rules the charts this week.

The top 10 Hindi songs are:

    1. "Barso re" - Film: "Guru"; Music Director: A.R. Rahman; Singer: Shreya Ghoshal. Shreya's voice adds a new dimension to the hugely popular song about welcoming rain.

    2. "Crazy kiya re" - Film: "Dhoom 2"; Music Director: Pritam; Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan. The fast number, shot on Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan, is a visual treat.

    3. "Maula mere" - Film: "Anwar"; Music Director: Mithoon and Pankaj Awasthi; Singer: Roop Kumar Rathod. This great romantic piece, interspersed with Sufi elements, marks a comeback for Rathod.

    6. "Main hoon don" - "Don"; Music Director: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy; Singer; Shaan. Stylishly shot on Shah Rukh Khan, the song has been moving up and down on the list for months.

    7. "Toote huey dil se" - Film: Umrao Jaan; Music Director: Anu Malik: Singer: Alka Yagnik. The short track expresses a lover's melancholy.

    8. "Subah subah" - Film: "I See You"; Music: Vishal-Shekhar; Singer: Zubeen Garg: Sung by Zubeen Garg of "Ya Ali" fame, it's a carefree song sprinkled with freshness and positivity. The film didn't do well but this song has been liked by young music buffs.

    9. "Come on" - Film: "Baabul"; Music Director: Aadhesh Shrivastav; Singers: Amitabh Bachchan, Sonu Nigam, Vishal, Aadesh Shrivastava, Ranjit Barot. The celebration song, picturised on the key actors, is doing well in the party circuit.
