• Los Angeles, March 8 (IANS) Geoffrey Fletcher won the best adapted screenplay Oscar for "Precious", based on the novel "Push" by Sapphire, at the 82nd Academy Awards.
  
  Set in Harlem, New York City, "Precious" is a heart-wrenching tale of an overweight, illiterate teenage girl who is pregnant with her second child. She joins an alternative school in the hope that her life can head in a new direction. But everything falls apart when she learns she is infected with HIV-AIDS.
