Kerala State Film Awards 2009: Mammootty and Shwetha are the Best Actors

  • Trivandrum, Apr.6 (NR): The Kerala State Film Awards 2009 have been announced. 'Palery Manickyam' directed by Ranjith has been adjudged the Best Film of the year. Hariharan is the Best Director of the year with his hugely successful and much acclaimed film 'Pazhassi Raja'.

    Mammootty has bagged the Best Actor Award for his brilliant essayal of three diverse roles in this spectacular film, while Shwetha Menon has been selected as the Best Actress of the year for lending life to Cheeru in the same film.

    The Second Best Actor Award goes to Manoj K Jayan for his amazing act in the magnum opus 'Pazhassi Raja', and Padmapriya was selected as the Second Best Actress for her portrayal of the Adivasi warrior in the same film.

    The Best Scriptwriter award goes to M T Vasudevan Nair (Pazhassi Raja) and the award for Best Cinematography goes to K G Jayan (Sufi Paranja Katha). Jagathy Sreekumar has been given a Special recognition by the Jury for his performance in 'Raamanam'.

    Best Art Direction: Muthuraj (Pazhassi Raja)
    Best Editing: Sreekar Prasad (Pazhassi Raja)
    Best Playback Singer (Male): K J Yesudas (Swantham swantham... Madhyavenal)
    Best Playback Singer (Female): Shreya Ghosal (Chanthu thottille... Banares)
    Best Background Music: Rahul Raj (Rithu)
    Best Music Director: Mohan Sitara (Sufi Paranja Katha)
