- Kochi, June 18 (IANS) "Taskaraveeran" maintains its top position this fortnight for lack of any real competition. And though some might see it as a dwindling of business, for Mammootty fans it is one more indication of star magic.
The top five Malayalam films are:
1. "Taskaraveeran": Mammootty does everything in this film that his fans love him for - be it making a style statement or being comfortable in different guises. Director duo Pramod Pappan have used his charisma to the hilt to ensure the success of this film.
2. "Pouran": Jayaram teams up with director Sundar Das in this film with a political theme. This film is a telling commentary on the corruption and money-mindedness that have crept into leftwing politics in the state.
3. "Kochi Rajavu": Dileep is having the last laugh. He has come up with a superhit just when his detractors were giving up on him.
4. "Thommanum Makkalum": Another Mammootty film on this list. It has been a norm for the last few months that at least two films of this mega-star appear on this list.
5. "Ben Johnson": Kalabhavan Mani dons the mantle of hero in the film directed by Anil Menon, which is a welcome change from the stereotypical villains he plays regularly.
