• For those of you who like Mani Ratnam's style of dishing out romance on screen, his up-and-coming film, titled as Kadal, should come as good news. That it stars the Golden Girl, Samantha, in the role of the female lead, is a bonus. Starring Gautham, yesteryear hero Karthik's son, in the lead, the film is the 23rd directorial in Mani's career. It is produced on Madras Talkies banner as its 14th production.
  
  AR Rehman is the music director. The film was in news very recently when Mani roped in Aravind Swamy of Bombay and Roja fame for a very important role. He has subsequently refuted the rumor that he was playing father to Samantha in the film. There is no truth in it.
  
  Actor Arjun is playing another key role in this much-touted commercial entertainer. The film also boasts of the presence of technicians like Rajiv Menon (Cinematography) and Sreekar Prasad (Editing). Kadal is set in the backdrop of fishermen in Nagapattinam. The latest is that the team is flying to the Andamans for a month long schedule in the beaches, which will take place later this month or early March.
