- Twenty years after their marriage, ace director Maniratnam has given a role to his actress wife Suhasini in his forthcoming film "Ravana" which is a bilingual in Hindi and Tamil.
They got married in 1988 and this is the first time Suhasini is featured in a film directed by her husband.
She has seldom appeared on the big screen since her marriage and Maniratnam himself has not given her any role in his films in the last 20 years.
For some time now, she has been reviewing films on TV and 'Suhasini Pesum Padam' is a big hit with the viewers.
According to sources, Maniratnam has given Suhasini an important role in "Ravana", but he has not stated what role it is. It is inferred that she will play the role of a queen.
The film with a social theme is inspired by the epic "Ramayana" in which Rama and Ravana are the lead characters.
Abhishek Bachchan plays Rama while Vikram does the character of Ravana in Hindi.
In Tamil, Vikram plays Rama and Prithviraj portrays Ravana.
Aishwarya Rai dons the role of Sita in both the versions.
