The music scene this year was mostly a mixed bag with a few charmingly melodious songs, some foot tapping numbers and several cacophonic compositions. nowrunning.com presents ten most popular songs that ruled the hit charts during the year. This is not a countdown, but rather a random assortment of ten songs that we loved to hum in 2010.
Pinne Ennodonnum Parayathe... (Shikkar)
It was a blessing for music aficionados to listen to K J Yesudas once again this year as the Ganagandharvan rendered the lovely song in Shikkar in his inimitable voice. The lyrics were penned by Girish Puthencherry who unfortunately left us in a hurry. M Jayachandran composed the music.
Kizhakku Pookkum... (Anwar)
Shreya's Kizhakku Pookum... that was supported by Navin Iyer, Sabari Brothers and Raqueeb Alam shot up to the charts in no time and remained there for quite a while. The lyrics were penned by Raffeq Ahmed and the music composed by Gopi Sunder.

Manikkivanin kothumbu vallam... (Pokkiri Raja)
Jassie Gift was back with a bang this year through the super hit songs in Pokkiri Raja. Manikkinavin Kothumbuvallam... sung by K J Yesudas and Sujatha turned out to be one of the most loved romantic duets of the year. Lyrics were written by Kaithapram.
Aaro Paadunnu... (Katha Thudarunnu)
The song Aaro Paadunnu Doore... had the Ilaiyaraja stamp all over it, and fans of the music director were quick to nurture it close to their hearts. Delightfully sung by Hariharan and Chitra, the song was written by Sarath Vayalar.
The song had two versions, a solo sung by Ranjith Govind and a duet rendered by Yasir and Elizabeth Raju, both of which turned out to be chart busters. The musical score set by Ouseppachan had music lovers begging for more. Lyrics were by Anil Panachooran.
Maavin Chottile... (Oru Naal Varum)
M.G. Sreekumar who was busy more as a music director this year than a singer, delivered several hit numbers and came up with an impressive composition for this lovely song written by Murukan Kattakkada. Swetha was the singer.
Neeyam Thanalinu... (Cocktail)
Cocktail was as much noted for its songs composed by Alphonse as for its distinct story. Neeyam thanalinu thazhe... sung by Rahul Nambiar was another super hit of the year that had lyrics by Anil Panachooran.
Rarely does a song become popular if the film doesn't turn out to be a hit. Chekavar did not have a dream run at the box office, but the song Poonchillayil... sung by Vijay Yesudas and Chitra was a smash hit. The man behind the divine music was Rahul Raj.
Vennilaavin... (College Days)
Ronnie Raphael was the music director who gave us the lilting melody Vennilavin Chirakileri... from the film College Days. The gifted voice of Sreenivas gave the song an extra flair and the results were nothing short of stunning. Kaithapram wrote the lyrics for the song.
Thozhi... (Elsamma Enna Aankutty)
Lal Jose went for a change in music director and opted for Rajamani this time instead of his regular Vidyasagar. The songs remained bumper hits nevertheless, and the most popular one among the lot was Thozhi... sung by Vijay Yesudas and Swetha. The lines belonged to Rafeeq Ahmed.
