- Telugu film Dookudu is smashing industry records. Opening bigger than most Hindi films, Dookudu raked in over a million dollars in two days of its release in the US.
The Los Angeles Times says "Dookudu, the biggest hit you've never heard of. While Hindi-oriented Bollywood movies sometimes land on domestic box-office charts, reminding the American film industry of the shadow economy that is Indian cinema in the US, it's rare for a Tollywood film to pull off the feat," it says.
The super show of this action entertainer brings a great breather to the Telugu film industry, reeling from a lean patch with no hits for a long time. Besides, Mahesh Babu, Telugu cinema's "Prince" is back in the saddle. The dashing actor was in fear of losing his "Prince" status with just one hit in the last five years.
An emotional Mahesh Babu tweeted: "Will always b indebted 2my super director Sreenu Vytla for giving me d biggest hit in my career. Thank you, sir".
