Vijay shoots for 'Thuppaki' on birthday

- 'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay, who celebrated his 39th birthday on June 22, spent the afternoon on the sets of A.R. Murugadoss's 'Thuppaki' shooting for the film. He had been injured in the knee recently while shooting for Thuppaki and he had undergone treatment at a London hospital and returned to Chennai.
Vijay, known for his munificence, started the day with a visit to the Government Maternity Hospital at Egmore, where he presented gold rings to newborn babies as part of his birthday celebrations which his family and friends kept simple on his advice.
Later, he visited Little Flower, Mercy Home, Spastics Society, Anbukarangal and Jerogam Illam and provided mid-day meals for the inmates.
Every year, on his birthday, Vijay spends some quality time with kids in hospitals and homes.
His fans and welfare association members visit hospitals in their districts. They also distributed books and other study material to students.
