Critic turns director

  • Cochin, July 27(NR): Veteran film critic Prof. K. Gopinathan makes his debut directorial venture with 'Ithra Mathram'. Earlier he had directed many documentaries. His masterpiece, 'Cinimayum Samskaravum' received the Best Film Book Award in 2005.

    'Ithra Mathram' is an adaptation of Kalpatta Narayanan's novel with the same title. The movie revolves around the different roles of a person departed.

    In the funeral ceremony of Sumithra (Shweta Menon), her neighbours and relatives admire her being a wife, home maker and so on. The movie mainly focuses on her college days and her interaction with her husband, Vasudevan (Biju Menon).

    Rashi Bharadwaj, Gayathri, and Vinu Joseph are the supporting cast.

    Salu K. George handles Art Direction. Jaison J. Nair scores music for the lyrics of Rafeeq Ahmed.
