  • Neeraj Pandey's Special 26 that starred Akshay Kumar will now remade in to Tamil. The film starred Kajal Aggarwal, Manoj Bajpai and Anupam Kher in Hindi. The film, also known as Special Chabbis, got good reviews and was also a hit.

It is reported that director Lingusamy has bought the remake rights of the film. Lingusamy's Thirupathy Brothers and Neeraj Pandey's Friday Filmworks will jointly produce the film in Tamil and Telugu.

Subash Chandra Bose of Thirupathy Brothers has confirmed the same and an official announcement about the film, its cast and crew are expected soon.

The film is inspired by a real-life heist that occurred in 1987, where a group of people posing as CBI officers conducted an income tax raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai.
