Excellent opening for 'Ghajini'

  • Chennai, Oct 6 (IANS) After "Anniyan", Surya's "Ghajini" was most eagerly awaited and fortunately did not disappoint viewers. The Murugadoss-directed film starring Surya, Asin and Nayanthara is number one on the charts.

The top five Tamil films are:

    1. "Ghajini" (Director - Murugadoss): This action thriller has Surya acting as a man who suffers from short-term memory loss. Surya as the action hero and Asin as his ladylove have done excellent jobs in the film. So also has beautiful Nayanthara.

    2. "Mazhai" (Director - Rajkumar): "Mazhai" is the remake of the successful Telugu film "Varsham". But, in all probability, "Mazhai" starring Jeyam Ravi and Shriya will not repeat the success of the original. Jeyam Ravi does more action than emotion in the film.

    3. "Thottijaya" (Director - Dorai): "Thottijaya" is Silambarasan's first out-and-out action film, and it is a success.

    4. "Ah..Aah" (Director - S.J. Suryah): Suryah romancing Simran look-alike Nila cannot be termed as a huge success. Nevertheless, the fact that the film is an average hit shows that sex and double entendres sell.

    5. "Oru Kallooriyin Kathai" (Director - Nanda Periyasamy): This film continues to be steady at the box office. It also marks the arrival of yet another young hero, Arya.
