Chennai, Aug 22 (IANS) A Tamil television channel is organising a month-long event to commemorate veteran actor Kamal Hassan completing 50 years in the industry - and it also wants a road here to be named after the star.

Addressing a press conference organised by Vijay TV, actor Sharath Kumar said he will be presenting a memorandum to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to rename Eldams Road as Dr Kamal Hassan road.

"Renaming the road on which Kamal sir has been living for years would be an apt way of celebrating this great actor, who has completed 50 years in the Tamil film industry," Kumar said.
