Bollywood stars who ruled 2016 with their killing performances

So, as we gear up to welcome 2017, we decided to round up a list of B-town stars, who reigned 2016 with their killing performances.

Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi of Bollywood is known to deliver about 3-4 films every year and 2016 was no different. This year Akki had 3 releases – Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom and each film not only fared well at the box-office but Akshay’s acting chops got tremendous appreciation too. While Housefull 3 and Rustom brought along decent praises, it was Airlift that was the actor’s shining glory in 2016. Critics couldn’t stop raving about his performance in Airlift and called it as the — Performance of a lifetime.
Amitabh Bachchan
The megastar, Amitabh Bachchan too had 3 releases this year — Wazir, Te3N and Pink, needless to say, Big B delivered fantastic performances in all three films. However, it was Pink, which brought in praises galore and it won’t be wrong to say that Mr. Bachchan’s performance in this film will be talked about for years to come.
Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor was the surprise package this year as she finally proved her mettle by wonderfully portraying Neerja Bhanot in the biopic — Neerja. Sonam internalized the pain, fear and courage of the brave airhostess and delivered one of the best performances of her lifetime.

Alia Bhatt
This year Alia Bhatt had not one but 3 releases and it gave her a perfect opportunity to prove her versatility as an actress. First, it was a breezy role in Kapoor & Sons that got her plenty of appreciation, followed by the intense portrayal of a drug abuse victim in Udta Punjab, which made people sit up and take notice of this firebrand. She finally wrapped up the year with a heart-warming performance in Dear Zindagi. Alia clearly owned 2016.
Shah Rukh Khan
After a rather dull 2015, the Baadshah of Bollywood regained his thrown in 2016 with two solid performances. In the first half of the year, SRK gave one of his best performances in a double role in Maneesh Sharma’s Fan, where he played someone half his age with extreme dexterity and flair. This one was followed by another unconventional choice — Dear Zindagi, where his low-key performance got him many accolades.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was back with a bang in 2016 and ruled the year like a true queen with not one but two noteworthy performances. She first struck a chord with her de-glam look in the biopic — Sarbjit and impressed everyone with her portrayal of Dalbir Kaur. Later, she glammed up like never before and stunned everyone with her super-sexy and bold performance in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Salman Khan
Salman Khan has a huge fan following and all his films are known to rake in the moolah, however, the critics have seldom showered praises on him but that has definitely changed since last year. After delivering a remarkable performance last year in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, this year Salman astonished all the critics with his solid act in Sultan. The actor has packed a punch like never before in Sultan.

Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha who has been often accused of not stepping out her comfort zone surprised everyone with her power-packed action heroine avatar in Akira this year. The shotgun junior not only khamoshed all her naysayers but also showed us that she has some fine acting genes.

Sushant Singh Rajput
This young gun may not have a long list of films to boast of yet, but every time he has appeared on screen, Sushant has left an impact. This year it was the portrayal of captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biographical sports drama — M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story that got him praises galore.
Ranbir Kapoor
Coming from the first family of Indian cinema, acting runs in his blood and one can’t refute the fact that this Kapoor lad is a powerhouse of talent. And this year, Ranbir won hearts with his endearing act in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
