Chennai, Dec 6 (IANS) Telugu actor Meka Srikant feels honoured to have worked in the forthcoming historical-drama "Devaraya" as he got an opportunity to play the famous emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya.

"It is a very special film ('Devaraya') because I play the role of Sri Krishnadevaraya and I feel honoured to have worked in it. Having watched several yesteryear actors play this role, I know I have to deliver my best to even live up to the expectations of the audience," Srikant told IANS.

He further added that he researched extensively to prepare for the role.

"I went through several historical books and old films to understand the character in detail," he added.

"Devaraya", directed and produced by Nani Krishna, also features Vidisha and Meenakshi Dixit in lead roles. It will release Friday.

The film is co-produced by Kiran Jakkamsetty and has music by Chakri.
