National film awards declared: 13 awards for Malayalam movies

The 60th National Film Awards were declared on Monday. Malayalam movies have won 13 awards and have come back to the front line to get the most number of awards.


Kamal’s ‘Celluloid’ is the Best Malayalam Film. Thilakan and Lal (‘Ozhimuri’) got special Jury mention and Kalpana (‘Thanichalla Njan’) is the Best Supporting Actress. Anwar Rasheed’s ‘Ustad Hotel’ won the award for the Best Popular Film for Wholesale Entertainment.


Anjali Menon bags the Rajat Kamal Award for the Best Dialogue. ’Thanichalla Njan’ by Babu Thiruvalla won the award for the Best Film on National Integration and Ranjith’s ‘Spirit’ won the award for the Best Film on Social Issues.


‘101 Chodhyangal’ by Sidharth Siva was awarded the Indira Gandhi Award for the Best First Film of a Director and Minon as the Best Child Artiste.


‘Black Forest’ directed by Joshi Mathew bags the Best Environmental Film. Bijibal got the Rajat Kamal Award for Best Background score for the film ‘Kaliachen’. Rajat Kamal Award for S Radhakrishnan for Best location sound recordist in ‘Annayum Rasoolum’.


P S Radhakrishnan bags the Best Film Reviewer Award.
