'Pompeii' goes on floors

Los Angeles, March 16 (IANS) Paul W.S. Anderson's new director "Pompeii", a 3D action-adventure film based on one of history's biggest disaster stories, has gone on floors in Italy. Its shooting will later shift to Toronto.


The shooting began March 13 in Pompeii, Italy, and the cast will later move to Toronto. The film will be released by PVR Pictures in India, said a statement.



Set in 79 A.D., "Pompeii" stars "Game of Throne" actor Kit Harington and "Sucker Punch" actress Emily Browning.


Harington plays Milo, a slave who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Elavia, played by Browning.


Elavia is a daughter of a wealthy merchant, Lucretius, played by Jared Harris. Elavia has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman General. Milo struggles to save her from the corrupted Roman General.


The screenplay is written by Lee Batchler, Janet Scott Batchler and Michael Robert Johnson. "Pompeii" has already generated buzz internationally.
