'I expected Joker to face censor issues', Raju Murugan

Joker, a political satire flick directed by Cuckoo fame Raju Murugan, will be hitting the screens this Friday the 12th August. It is produced by Potential Studios. Earlier it was supposed to release during the state election time but got postponed. The film features Guru Somasundaram, Mu. Ramasamy, Ramya Pandian, Gayathri Krishnaa, writers Bava Chelladurai and S. Balamurugan, among others.


Speaking about his film director Raju Murugan says, “People are bold enough to discuss politics on social media, but it is not the same in cinema. I took a clear call to make a film with a political backdrop like Joker. Artistes, basically, do their work and are apolitical,”


He also adds, “In the first place, we were apprehensive about getting the film cleared. Much to our surprise, we got a ‘U’ certificate with small cuts for violent scenes and cuss words. The censors also approved the idea that ‘everyone should speak politics’ which is the theme of the movie.” Click the Movie button below for more info:
