'If I make a film in Tamil, my choice is only Rajini'

Director Balki has made impressive films like Cheeni Kum and Pa and is ready with his next Shamitabh starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan. The film would be a February 2015 release and has Ilayaraja’s music and P C Sreeram’s camera work.

In an interaction about the film, Balki says it is about teamwork and emphasizes that a lone individual cannot achieve anything but combined work is needed to attain anything. He adds, “There is no duet or comedy track in Shamitabh. The ego problem that erupts between Amitabh and Dhanush and the chemistry that brings the two together is the knot”.

When asked about his ideas on working in Tamil film, Balki says that although he knows to speak in Tamil, he cannot write and that he prefers writing his own script. When he masters writing in Tamil, he would definitely do a Tamil film and that when he does his first choice would be superstar Rajinikanth only. Now, that would be a deadly combo indeed!
