Kerala State Film Awards declared

Kerala State Film Awards 2012 are declared. Prithviraj and Rima Kallingal bag the Best Actor and Actress awards respectively. The Best Film is ‘Celluloid’ directed by Kamal which showcases the life of J C Daniel, the father of Malayalam Cinema.


Prithviraj is awarded for his role in ‘Celluloid’ and ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’ while Rima Kallingal for her performance in ’22 Female Kottayam’. Lal Jose is the Best Director and the film is ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’. The same film is awarded the Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. Madhupal’s ‘Ozhimuri’ is the Second Best Film.


Manoj K Jayan and Sajitha Madathil are accorded the award for Second Best Actor and Actress respectively for the movies ‘Kaliachen’ and ‘Shutter’ respectively. Salimkumar is the Best Comedian for his role in the film ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’. Anjali Menon bags the award for the Best Screenplay.


M Jayachandran is the Best Music Director for the music composition in ‘Celluloid’ and Rafeeq Ahamed is the Best Lyricist (‘Spirit’). Vijay Yesudas (‘Spirit’) and Sithara (‘Celluloid’) bag the Best Singers Award. Bijibal gets the award for the Best Background Music (‘Kaliachen’, ‘Ozhimuri’).


Best Cinematographer is Madhu Neelakantan (‘Annayum Rasoolum’) and Vimmi Mariam George is the Best Dubbing Artist (‘Nidra’). Farooq Abdul Rahman is the Best Debut Director (‘Kaliachen’).


The jury headed by director I V Sasi declared the awards from among the 84 films showcased.
