Well you sure must be wondering what randomness this review is coming to? But believe you me, the film projects equal amount of absurdity too. Say Yes To Love may make for an unintentional funny watch for many but it surely teaches the budding filmmakers a few key lessons while opting/making a film respectively.
Lesson 1 - Say No To Bad Script - Always remember, a handsome budget for a decent writer is always a better option than a location more or an extra costume change! You'd only have eyes enough to be pleased by locations if you have a good film at hand to entice them.
Sadly, Marukh Mirza Beig falters at the basic level of filmmaking and ends up with a plot that not only goes haywire from the word go but also has a very exasperating romantic storyline.
Lesson 2 - Say No To Cliched Romance - Romantic plots release by the dozen every quarter in the Hindi film industry. In such a stage going ahead with a cliched young romance which was predominant during the '80s or even reminiscent of Kumar Gaurav's debut film Love Story, is a horrid choice.
Dadoo (Aditya Raj Kapoor) is one harried father. His only son Vijay (Aasad Mirza) is extremely scared of women and hasn't had a 'physical relation' with any. The son's mental block? He was almost raped by a prostitute while he was schooling. So the father goes ahead striking a 1cr deal with a bar dancer Sarah Jones (Nazia Hussain) who promises to make a 'man' out of his boy. However, within the process of seduction, temptation and making him fall for her and finally lose his virginity, the bar dancer ends up falling in love to. Their love saga and whether they remain together or not follows through a series of overtly mushy, raunchy and remorseful tracks.
Lesson 3 - Say No To Wrong Casting - Though you may have a shoe string budget, always make sure you rope in a cast that at least can deliver more than two emotions. Whatever little face value Aditya Raj Kapoor adds to this film, his hamming completely ruins the plot making the film unbearable.
Lesson 4 - Say No To Actor's Profiling - Just because the lead hero is also the source of funds, that doesn't mean it calls for undue profiling.
Say Yes To Love has Aasad Mirza dancing, romancing, weeping all in one film as if there's no tomorrow. But one look at it all and you know maybe their thoughts are just right!
Lesson 5 - Say No To Over Acting - One should always keep the emotions of his/her cast restrained.
Say Yes To Love has the excessive 'lao' between father and son almost bordering on incest with a near about smooch they plant on each other while hugging. Aditya Raj Kapoor's character annoys you with his overtly sweet paternal attentions towards his son!
And last but not the least Lesson 6 - Say No To Excessive Songs - Never have a film running between songs, it should be the other way around.
Composer Jatin Pandit packs an enormously large album that filmmaker nicely stuffs in his film almost making you weep for the needless usage of songs.
