Rush Hindi Movie
This is one film that's been stuck in the pipelines since a very long time and had been titled, re-titled and re-re-titled plenty of times. The director of the film Shamin Desai passed away during the shooting of the film and the project was eventually completed by his wife Priyanka. Whether a long haul and feeble publicity hamper the film or not let's find out.
Samar (Emraan Hashmi), a senior investigative journalist, who is yearning to make a name for himself, gets fired from his job at news channel Pulse 365 after airing a big expose which doesn't go down well with the head honchos of the channel. He is then approached by a Lisa Kapoor (Neha Dhupia) of a rival channel Crime 24 for a job as that of Editor In Chief. An unrealistically lucrative offer of 1.5 crore annual package along with zillion luxuries, immediately attract Samar. Just like the unrealistic offer even the workings of the news channel seem surreal. Enters Roger Khanna (Aditya Panscholi) the owner of Crime 24 who actually, in a bid to earn the highest TRP ratings, actually deploys system that taps the phone lines of the Indian Police so that they get to report all the crimes before anyone else! However, soon Samar starts realizing that there's more that meets the eye and the hot shots of the channel are actually taking all the wrong routes to acquire name and fame. How Samar's greed for becoming the biggest investigative journalist lands him into a life threatening situation follows through the rest of the plot.
Filmmakers have always found their fancy in the Media Industry, be it Ram Gopal Varma's Rann or Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3 or even Aamir Khan's Peepli Live. Rush too, in a way, deals with the future of the media industry and how morally corrupt could even media get in order to survive the competition and retain their TRPs. But in terms of its treatment and storyline, the film fails to deliver any novelty. The film falls on a predictable path almost instantly and gets you bored soon after.
Not only is the film shot tackily but courtesy the time span that it took to complete there are far too many continuity flaws, especially in the look of Emraan Hashmi that can clearly be noticed and end up annoying the viewer's eye. The dialogues in the film are funny and so is the case of pronunciation of actors like Neha Dhupia and Aditya Panscholi.
Emraan Hashmi appears disinterested in most of the scenes and Rush clearly appears as his most poor performance in the recent times. Sagarika Ghatge literally gets wasted. Neha Dhupia except for mouthing words incorrectly or acting hoity toity doesn't do much either. Aditya Panscholi as the ruthless media baron acts badly.
Music by Pritam is also insipid and except for one track Chup Chup Ke all the others are mediocre. In fact they also get either misplaced or forced into the film.
Over all, Rush comes across a very tackily done rushed up job making you literally rush towards the exit doors.
