Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai Hindi Movie
There have been many a films referring to the constant struggle in the glamour world. Some take it as a sub-plot while some just show a passing reference. However, Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baaki Hai on the other hand entirely depends on depicting the life and times of people from the film industry. Whether this comedy works or not let's find out.
Amar Joshi (Suniel Shetty) who runs a video library in Banaras aspires to be a film maker. Despite facing objection from his father Amar Joshi decides to sell his video library and join a film Institute in London. After completing his course he lands in Mumbai to make a film. Suraj (Rajpal Yadav) is a struggling actor who is Amar's only connection in Bollywood. Amar Joshi starts his struggle to make his film by meeting different type of producers who have their own take on Amar's story. After many failed attempts He finally bumps into Monty Chadda (Rakesh Bedi) a P.R. Publicity man who sees good potential in Amar and decides to produce his film. Amar & Monty take help of star secretary Gupta ji (Akhil Mishra) to convince Mohini (Udita Goswami) & her starry mother Mummy ji (Neena Gupta) who agrees to do the film. However, as they say it's not so easy to make a film, problem creeps up and whether the film gets made or not follows through the rest of the plot.
The film seems to have had a real life incident on the similar lines of what it portrays in the reel life as it's been in the making for as long as nine years. But even at that, what finally sees the light of the day is a crass below mediocre fair. Filmmaker Rajnish Raj Thakur puts together a weak plot, fills up some crass jokes, below the belt humour with multiple double entendre and actors hamming for no rhyme or reason.
The film while taking a dig as Indian potboilers ends up becoming one trashy potboiler itself. On a conceptual level, the germ of the film had great potential of making for an entertaining satirical watch. However, owe it to the feeble attempts at script, dialogue and screenplay writing that it only leaves you red on your face with anger by the time it ends.
Suniel Shetty and Rajpal Yadav are loud and ham beyond proportions. Probably their worse performance till date. Udita Goswami fails even to add any glamorous quotient to the film. The series of actors like Suresh Menon, Avtar Gill, Deepak Qazir, Razak Khan Mumait Khan, Shawar Ali, Shyan Munshi and Neena Gupta also put together a shoddy show.
To sum it up, Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baaki Hai is replete with inane dialogues, hackneyed jokes, uninspiring execution and shoddy acting. In short, it is devoid of any reasons to watch it.
