Shuttlecock Boys Hindi Movie
PVR Director's Rare is surely becoming one commendable platform to bring to fore great cinema that has found it difficult to see the light of the day. After the likes Supermen Of Malegaon, Kshay and Harud comes yet another small time film Shuttlecock Boys that's been in the pipelines since quite a few years. Let's see what makes this film special.
Based in Delhi, Shuttlecock Boys is about four friends Gaurav, Manav, Pankaj and Loveleen. All four are dejected in their jobs and usually pass their recreational time playing Badminton. One fine day one of them makes up his mind to start his own business - that of catering. The four eventually come together and put everything they have at stake to flourish their business. Whether their business takes off or not follows through the rest of the plot.
Filmmaker Hemant Gaba makes a very sincere attempt at filmmaking and captures a realistic texture of emotions. On the story level there's nothing extraordinary or exceptional about Shuttlecock Boys. It's a linear plot of four friends going against all odds to make it big in their business venture. Even the screenplay is ordinary at best. But what works is the execution of the film; the simplicity with which the story is handled is what makes for an endearing watch.
The equation between the four friends is captured in a very natural manner and never for once do you think that there's any display of over acting in the film. Hemant puts together a show which tugs in your heart instantly making you feel you're one of them. Very subtly he slips his theme of hope and courage and conveys it to his audience beautifully.
All the four actors Aakar Kaushik, Manish Nawani, Alok Kumar and Vijay Prateek appear taut, expressionless and flawed in their act but it's the filmmaker's depiction of finding perfection in imperfection that covers it up making it appear very natural.
To sum it up, Shuttlecock Boys is definitely not a classic that will go down in history but it definitely is a decent first attempt and makes for a one time watch.
