'Kai Ethum Doorathu' a film directed by Fazil, who has the reputation of introducing best talents doesn't seem to click his jadoo with shanu this time . it's supposed to be a launching vehicle for his young son but doesn't seem to appeal much to Malayalee filmgoers.

The movie, almost a fazil film does not have the right ingredients to retain the viewers' interest for a long time. Produced by Fazil himself, under the banner Ammu International, the film elicits applause from the viewers, only when Mammootty, who does a cameo, appears on screen. The hero shanu doesn't seeme to be impressive. The heroine Nikhitha a punjabi dame, though cute, doesn't impress much as an actress. The film is rather slow-moving and lacks substance. However, it is definitely an improvement on the 'crash-bang' flicks currently holding sway. Mammootty impresses as Advocate Gopi, while Revathy as Sushama's(nikhitha) mother too does an excellent job. Siddique is well cast as Sushama's father Babu. All the others in the cast are just so so, including the lead pair Shanu and Nikhitha, plus Sudheesh, Cochin Haneefa, Rajan.P.Dev, Harisri Ashokan and Yadukrishnan. Songs penned by S.Rameshan Nair and set to tune by Fazil's favourite Ouseppachan don't seem to rise above average.
