After making a forgettable debut in 'Kaththiyai Theetaathe Buththiyai Theetu' last year, director Sri Krishna has made another unremarkable film in Naalu Polisum Nalla Iruntha Oorum which is absolutely lifeless. This comes as a surprise because the lead actor Arulnidhi Tamilarasu has proved himself in the past as a bankable actor and his choice of films has always been impressive.

The film narrates a story of four cops, played by Arulnidhi, Bagavathi Perumal, Singam Puli and Karthick Sivan, who lead a peaceful profession in a crime-free village called 'Por Panthal'. Everyone in their village is a do-gooder and no single case has been filed in the village's police station for more than a decade.

Earning gold medal from the President of India is customary for the cops who serve in the village. However, the very reason that the crime rate is totally nil makes the home ministry send out a notice to shut down the police station and transfer the cops immediately to Ramanathapuram, who is showcased as a place filled with blood and violence. Fearing that their lives will be at jeopardy after getting transfer to Ramanathapuram, the cops devise a plan to plant crimes in the village so that the police station will be allowed to function.

In his attempt to entertain the audiences through situational comedy, director Sri Krishna has failed miserably. The story meanders completely in the first half and the uninteresting romance portions with Remya Nambeesan, who works as a school teacher, add fuel to the fire. The second half turns completely emotional, especially the last few minutes where the story-telling takes a backseat.

Mahesh Muthusamy, one of Mysskin's regular collaborators, has captured the beauty of the village with his frames brilliantly. Singam Puli is the only actor who manages to leave us in splits at regular intervals with his superb timing and dialogue delivery. After a hit film like Demonte Colony, Arulnidhi has flunked to capitalize with this half-hearted attempt at comedy.

Naalu Polisum Nalla Iruntha Oorum is a tedious comedy drama full of uninspiring, verbose performances. Even at a running time of 135 minutes, the film looks butt-numbing to sit through.
